Our classes are inspired by Baptiste Yoga which is a vinyasa-style practice founded by Baron Baptiste and practiced around the world. According to their site, its “fundamental purpose is to awaken and empower all human beings to live life fully and in potencia. To discover one’s own potential as a moment-to-moment phenomenon on and off the mat. The Baptiste Methodology is more about action, practice, and empowering conversation than it is about lecture and theory. It is grounded in the practices of asana, meditation, and inquiry. These tools and techniques break with limiting thoughts and attitudes that no longer serve us in life and in living. You will discover new vitality, power, and freedom in your body. Baptiste Yoga is powerful, but it’s adaptable for bodies of all ages and fitness levels.” To learn more, check out:

Spry Yoga Methodology
Spry Yoga classes deliver an unheated, low-impact, stabilizing practice that builds on the methodology of Baptiste Yoga as taught in our power classes. Spry Yoga was developed by our mentor Kate Doran at Savannah Power Yoga who saw the opportunity to teach to groups of people who would not traditionally come into a yoga studio and were missing out on a transformational practice and enriching community. The design behind these classes is informed by common considerations that come with aging. Things like loss of muscle tone, balance, and flexibility along with osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and joint issues can limit one’s independence over time. To maintain a long, active life it is essential to keep moving and breathing. Spry students are encouraged and supported by knowledgeable teachers in a safe environment to discover what’s possible for themselves.
